Rare Brazilian TIGERWOOD British Custom-built Easel. Classic tigerwood rich warm red base tone, with variation throughout. Warm umber, cool gray, and black grain. Master craftsmanship. Not a single joint or seam is loose or damaged in any way. Uniquely stable and heavy. Paint and display 2 paintings at the same time. Late 1900’s earliest known London provenance. From London, the easel relocated to the US in the early 1950’s Gently and naturally restored just enough to reveal the character of the grain. 26 x 26″ Trestle Base. Trays down – mast height is 80″ H. Trays up – maximum mast height is 108″ (9ft H) All moving parts 100% Working. Brass Level handle, Brass fittings. 1.5″ original iron sabot castors. Original tray crank handle; tigerwood and cast iron. Removable canvas brace. Cantilever front mast to +40 degrees.
