They are made up of microscopic flakes that reflect light in a way that creates a two-tone colour effect that changes depending on the angle of view. Unlike other types of pigments that create a uniform colour or a simple colour shift, interference pearls create a complex and dynamic effect that appears to change and shift as the angle of view and the angle of the light source change. This effect is created by the way that the light interacts with the microscopic flakes in the pigment, reflecting off of the surface and creating a range of colours and hues. Iridescent pearls are typically made from mica and other minerals that have been coated with a thin layer of metal oxide or other compounds. Shimmer Pearls 10-60 microns: Shimmer Pearls offer the middle ground of the 3 pearls giving more Sparkle than our Satin pearls whilst still giving a nice colour shift at certain viewing angles and will again totally disappear at others.
